AFS • XS
The XS is a gravity assisted mechanical claw. When it touches down gravity pushes the jaws open. Lifting it closes the jaws around your prize. The design is based off of the original Gravity Hook. This one is just eXtra Small. So whether you dropped a sock behind the dryer or you need a little entertainment at the DMV, you'll have the answer in your pocket.

So I saw one of these on a forum dedicated to people who enjoy gadgets. I looked at a few reviews and thought "$25? lets give it a shot". It arrived and is a solidly made bit of kit. The design is amazing and the execution is pretty much perfect - the finish is good and it's very sturdy.
I've been playing with it all morning and it picks up almost anything when in gravity hook mode, and the grapple is perfect for small items.
My workmates have fidget cubes and fidget spinners, but I have the coolest thing out of them all. the jimping is good to run your finger over, the spring gives good feedback when played with and the entire unit has a good weight to it.
Only regret is that I didn't get the dynamic duo so I could get the big one as well :)

I saw the XS on one of those "5 multi tools you can get under $25" or some such and immediately thought it was super cool. I was astounded by what you could pick up with it. Having tested it myself, I can absolutely give it 5 stars! It won't pick up everything, as you shouldn't expect it to, but you will be surprised by the things you can pick up that you wouldn't think you could. I haven't torture tested it, as I only got one, but I'm not gentle with it, and it shows no signs of degradation. Works pretty decent as a belt, too, although that's probably not recommended.
I haven't really used the grappling hook functionality for anything other than to test to see if it works, which it did. Just a bonus feature to me, really. Overall, if it looks interesting to you, I day 100% get it, you'll love it

While I got this primarily for the claw function I found myself using the grappling hook more. Great quality. Now I just have to get some Paracord

The XS is a great everyday carry.

I purchased this XS gravity hook at the suggestion of a former co-worker who serves as a Search and Rescue member of the Army's Phantom Unit. I use it in place of the ubiquitous carabiner and it works well for that. It so happened that I was at a public park with the children when my daughter had dropped her brother's wrench tool into the drain next to the park's perimeter. With cries and sobs, my son came running to me crying, "Daddy, my wrench is gone!" With my XS gravity hook, boot laces, and my EDC flashlight, I managed to retrieve my son's toy wrench and was promptly cheered as the "hero-of-the-day" by all who were present. Got me some extra brownie points with Mama too and that was all worth it!

It really works! It looks like a toy until you need to use it to catch something lost!

I have had an original gravity hook for some time now. As soon as I saw the xs I had to have it. While I only play around with it now, I'm sure it will be extremely useful at some point. Being so small it is really easy to carry. Totally an awesome item if your a gear nut like myself. Highly recommended!

I originally bought this as a toy to fool around with when I was talking the desk. It does not disappoint. But I was surprised at how useful this was t have on my keychain. Bottle opener, makeshift belt loop holder - it did a lot more than I expected. Good on the company to make a smaller, (not as practical) but much more entertaining toy for me to fiddle with

Very good - works the same as its larger counterpart, very smooth action. I work at a utility, and this hook will fit down inclinometer wells for geotechnical monitoring (2.5" ID wells, 70-100ft deep) for retrieval of dropped tools/instruments, etc.
Fully open, 1-15/16", griping objects up to 15/16" in diameter.
Personally, I used the 5-strand 275lb paracord with it; thin, a bit stiff. The 96lb is a lot more supple and the same diameter, just depends on your application.
