Despite an invaluable lesson on patient tenacity of knot undoing from Quechuan weaver, Nilda Callañaupa who used her bare nails at a Textile Arts Council workshop with Ed Franquemont in the 90's, I am grateful for this unique tool from a wholly different domain. The Awesome for Sale 1/2" Marlinspike proved invaluable when paired with 3x magnifying readers, saving my dear wife's knitting by undoing a tangled mess of light sport weight 8 ply. The smooth metal point deftly teased apart delicate wool strands solving the puzzled mess and regained ply alignment. Should I ever return to back strap weaving, it would make for superlative weaving pick. Not just functional, the tool is a thing of beauty with its optional laser engraving and Turk's Head knot accompaniment. A Fantastic Piece of Steel, Beautiful, and works so well for what does while feeling great in the hand, and the video tutorial on the knot was very good so you don't need to be self conscious about your abilities to finish it off, it's nice and pointy without being sharp and if you get it engraved, it's actually engraved so it won't rub off like some printing, it's a fine piece of work and I wouldn't be surprised if I found myself buying more of these same spikes in the coming months to supplement this ones awesomeness

I bought this because backtracking while working Paracord is a pain and so is tightening knots but what surprised me most is how good it just feels to hold in hand. I wish I had more projects to do now I have this tool

I got the Marlinspike as well as the Leather Sheath Kit. It was fun using the Marlinspike right off to assemble its own sheath! When I was done putting the kit together I was astounded by the quality of the fit and finish of the entire product. I have other Marlinspikes, but this one wins 1st place. This is the perfect size for a marlinspike. I had originally planned on using this for splicing natural fiber ropes and cables, but I'm picking up some of the uses with paracord as well.

When I first came across this marlin spike, I was eager to try it out. As someone with a collection of marlin spikes, and even having made a YouTube video showcasing them, I was excited to add this one to my set. After receiving it, I was so impressed that I decided to order another as a backup and a third to keep with my paracord gear. One of my favorite things to do with these marlin spikes is to polish them using a piece of leather and polishing compound. This process ensures they are as smooth as possible and gives them a fantastic shine. The attention to detail in this marlin spike is outstanding—especially the small slot designed specifically for making the Turk’s Head knot, which prevents it from slipping off. It’s a brilliant touch! Since I ended up getting three, can you guess which one is my favorite? Yep, this one! Each marlin spike is adorned with a different colored Turk’s Head knot that I made.
